MOODLE PLUGINS

Dear NED Plugin users:

We have been maintaining these plugins for many years and raising funds to keep this work going has been an ongoing challenge, especially in the last couple years. To keep these plugins alive, we must shift to a paid membership model. This decision was not taken lightly, since we value and appreciate the spirit of sharing that is demonstrated daily by the Moodle community at large. But we also don’t want to abandon our plugins and the schools that rely on them. We hope that this move will allow us to improve the quality of our plugins and keep pace with the timeline of the Moodle releases. We are still figuring out the details but it’s likely that we will offer a tiered membership system (ex. different prices for individuals vs schools) as well as options for non-profits. We look forward to updating our current lineup of plugins and to creating new plugins to meet the needs of learners and instructors alike.

Wish List

The list shown below contains some of the most recent proposals that were submitted by members of the NED community like you. Want to put these ideas into action? We offer two options for plugin development.

Groups:
Since 2003, various coalitions of individuals, schools and organisations have come together to fund the development of many of the plugins shown above. This “crowdfunding” model allows small players to develop complex plugins that are usually the domain of large companies and universities. There is no long-term commitment or group membership. When enough money is raised to fund a proposed idea, the process begins. The details of the development (i.e. which features get added or modified, interface layout, etc.) are decided by those who fund the work. Interested? Get in touch with us for more details.

Individual:
We can work directly with you or your team to develop Moodle plugins to meet the unique needs of your school or organisation. Weather you are looking to create something completely new or modify an existing plugin, we have the experience and expertise to make it happen.

  • MM6: Make Marking Manager compatible with PHP7.
  • MM7: Add activity links to progress report: http://screencast.com/t/i2PjxcLw9. Funded. Under development.

  • MT10: Allow mentors to create their own account via the “Create New Account” feature in Moodle, but then have a “Mentor Student” plugin that connects them to their students automatically. Complete description here: https://www.screencast.com/t/pVreYNK3uB

Tabs Course Format – New Feature Requests:

New Plugin Proposals:

  • NP3: Create a site-level enrollment system, as shown here: http://screencast.com/t/45TyVom2. The concept is pretty simple; take the “manual enrollment” plugin (example)  and add a course selection menu so that enrollment for all courses can be done in one place (site level).
  • NP5: Submission Reset Tool: Create a tool that would allow the teacher to delete submissions from specific activity types from individual students. Draft mock-up:  http://screencast.com/t/kxqcwdtyP53C.
